Week 9 ( FYP 2 )

Activity:
This week, I continue to collect the data from the project. Based on previous data, the brown turbine was selected to further experiment because it has the highest average of voltage generated by the AC generator. Then the brown turbine was tested by using 2 different water flow rate which is 1000 ℓ/h and 1500 ℓ/h.  Below shown the data of voltage, current, and power generated by using 1000 ℓ/h.

After the data being collected, I started to make a preparation for FYP 2 Exhibition Day. I completed the slide shows that will be used when the presentation occurs and make a final check up for my project running smoothly when presentation.

Week 8 ( FYP 2)

Activity:
As for this week, I started to collect the data of my project. From the 3 turbines, I collect the output of voltage generated by the AC generator. Each of the turbine generate different value of voltage. Graph below shown the data of voltage collected.

Week 7 ( FYP 2 )

Activity:
For this week, I attend the Pitching Technique briefing for FYP2. In this section, the FYP 2 coordinator explain about the technique on presentation day for how to do the presentation in front of the assessor. I learnt of how to tackle the assessor which explain briefly on my project. Each of the slide and data, I need to explain one by one until the assessor understand.

Also, I completed the project by combining all the components and tools. In my development of micro power generator in water pipe, I tested using 3 type of turbine to generate the voltage value from the generator. By next week, the data will be completed to collect 1 of then will be selected to find its voltage, current and power.  Figure below shown the complete circuit of voltage sensor, INA219 and complete project design.

As for experiment, we using 2 type of water flow rate which is 1000 ℓ/h and 1500 ℓ/h. below shown the water pump that we using for experiment of micro power generator in water pipe.

Week 6 ( FYP 2 )

Activity:
As for this week, I began to assemble all the component and tools that I constructed earlier. As for the turbine, earlier I just combine the turbine with the straight PVC pipe, but it will cause the leakage to it. Then I change it with the T-shaped pipe. The turbine was installed at the middle of T-shaped pipe, so there was no leakage after that. At the top of the t-shaped turbine, installed AC generator which directly connected to the turbine. Below shows how the turbine was installed at the T-shaped pipe.

Conclusion:

The assembling of turbine was success because they were no leakage of it.

Week 5 (FYP 2)

Activity:

For this week, I attend the 2nd briefing for FYP2 which talk about “Result and Discussion in Project Report”. In this section, the FYP 2 coordinator explain about how the result and discussion need to be done when writing the project report. We need to explain each of the data that been collected by the project.
Also, for this week, I continued to test the turbine that been printed last week. There was problem to assemble because the turbine and the water pipe got the leakage of water when it is running. So, I need to find the problem and change it with another method.

Week 4 (FYP 2)

Activity:
As for this week, I went to Level 4 under supervision of Dr. Azraie to print out my turbine by using 3D printer. With help of my friend Mr. Nazreen who can used the 3D printer. My turbine can be print faster that the time that should been done. At the end of the week, all three of my turbines was ready to be collected. As information, this turbine was printed by using Polyactic Acid (PLA) which withstand with water and pressure. Below show the turbines that been printed by using 3D printer.

Week 3 (FYP 3)

Activity:
As for this week, I continued to design the turbine of the project that need to be used. At the end of this week, I confirmed that I will using 3 different type of turbine which will show at below.

Also, this week I construct the circuit for my Voltage sensor, INA219, LCD, LED, Rectifier with the Arduino. Below shown the circuit that been constructed.

Conclusion:

This can conclude the circuit and the design that been constructed and designed was nicely done. The circuit also being tested and the it can work perfectly.

Week 2 (FYP 2)

Activity:

For this week, I attend the 1st briefing for FYP2 which talk about “Introduction to FYP 2”. In this section, the FYP 2 coordinator explain about what to do in this semester up until the Exhibition Day on 9/10/2019.
Also, for this week, I continued to design the turbine that I need to use for the project. This designed process took a longer time that I thought. This because the Sketch Up process need to use a lot of time to design in it. Below shown the earlier design that been made for turbine.

Week 16

This week was the final week to submit the Proposal Report. I send my Proposal Report to Dr. Reyasudin on 29/5/2019. After that, he check for the plagiarism and I need to send the front page and similarity report of my proposal. My plagiarism for proposal report was under the condition that being set. Alhamdulillah, in these 16  weeks I learn a lot o things to make sure my project will success. I learnt about how to use the SketchUp software. I also went to Cura 3D printing workshop to know how to use the 3D printing for my turbine. I learnt a lot of thing about micro power generator. There a lot of idea that came to me when I read from previous studies and in tend to improvise their works.

Special thanks I bet to Dr. Reyasudin for supervising me along this FYP1 period. I hope Dr, Reyasudin can help me further in my journey for FYP 2 next semester. Although FYP 2 start next semester, I will continue to plan my project starting my holiday of semester break. i wil do a lot of research on how to increase the development of my micro power generator in water pipe.

Week 15

Project Sketch

For this week, I focus on the project sketch for my project. This to make sure that when the FYP2 started, I can do it straight away without waiting to make it. I also make the circuit diagram for the connection between voltage sensor, Arduino Uno, and the LCD for the able to read the value of voltage generated.

Sketch of project "Micro Power Generator in Water Pipe"

From figure above it shows the sketch of my product. It has 3 turbine in the water pipe. Each of the turbine will connected to a voltage sensor. Then the Arduino will read the voltage by the coding and display to LCD. The power generated then will flow to the power storage. I bet when the water flow into the water pipe, the water flow rate will decrease after moving to 1st and 2nd turbine. It will make the turbine generate low power due to the slower rotation of turbine. I will see the result in the future and change what need to make it rotate faster.

Week 14

Report Writing

After the presentation last week, I continue to writing my proposal report. This week I focus on writing the methodology and the preliminary result. In Methodology, there will be the flow chart, the block diagram, software and hardware used, the project sketch and gantt chart. From meeting with Dr. Reyasudin, I figured that I got error in my flowchart. Hence, I made a new flow chart and change with the older own. Figure below shows the flow chart, block diagram, and gantt chart.
